Occasionally I need to help someone with a computer problem.
I am looking for any software that works like gotoassist.com (known also as
desktopstreaming.com) where you remotely control a PC without installing
software (Web based).

Nothing too expensive and works well on dialups.

I tried TightVNC on a dial up. Painstakingly slow, but it did work.

I use it for 2 clients using DSL, no problems at all.

it web based

Might want to try http://remotelyanywhere.com, I've used it in the
past (2000) to talk to a server via dialup. Didn't do big operations
(basicly told services to start and stop, and rebooted the machine),
but it worked well.

One complaint was that it used a Java Applet, which needed to be
downloaded each time when you logged in. I hope this has been
replaced with a plug-in.

HTH,

tom
