Are you using iis6 ? If so the option is intended for copying a vd from one
machine to another or a backup. You can export a vd to a file, and then
import it (i.e. create from file).
First you have to export the vd to a file & then:
create a virtual directory by importing a configuration file
1.. In IIS Manager, expand the Web site or FTP site to which you want to
add a virtual directory, right-click the Web Site or folder within which you
wish to create the virtual directory, point to New, then click Virtual
Directory (from file).
2.. Click Next.
3.. In the Import configuration dialog, click Browse and navigate to the
file containing the virtual directory configuration to import.
4.. Click Read File, click the virtual directory configuration to import,
and click OK. The virtual directory is created below the currently selected
level.
