If I type mydomainname.com into the browser, I get the latest version of my
site including changes recently made by me. If I type www.mydomainname.com I
get the old ( cached ?? ) version. What should I do ? Will it just rectify
itself after a few days or should I look to doing something?

There could be any number of factors that affect this, but you haven't
specified much, so it's probably a cache thing.

Try putting a question mark after the domain so that it calls it fresh,
like:

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.mydomainname.com?" target="_blank">www.mydomainname.com?</a>

or

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.mydomainname.com?banana" target="_blank">www.mydomainname.com?banana</a>

Otherwise do nothing.

Didn't know that. How broad is browser support?

Wait. I think that was a dumb question. Where's the button for the
ejection seat in this thing?
