Hi,

is it possible to use variables in apache configuration files?

e.g.

setenv user abc
ServerName = domain.com
DocumentRoot = /home/user/ServerName

etc.

Thanks!

Peter

Normally no. What's your problem?

I just want to optimize my setup for multiple virtual domains, and
therefore I wondered if I really have to literally put path
information into the config file.

seems very uncomfortable to me not to be able to define some default
values that could be used for all vhosts then.

mod_vhost is way too dynamic for my approach... hmm, well, have to
think about that.

Variables in config files is nothing special today, I really wonder
that itīs not possible with apache...

Please, take a look at <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://httpd.apache.org/docs/vhosts/mass.html" target="_blank">http://httpd.apache.org/docs/vhosts/mass.html</a>

If these domains are in a single tree of folders, consider the use of
wildcard parameters for a.o. scriptalias

Be aware of an anomily:
Setting of VirtualDocumentRoot is _not_ passed as document_root to your
scripts.

Have a peek at <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_userdir.html" target="_blank">http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_userdir.html</a> or in
more detail <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/howto/public_html.html" target="_blank">http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/howto/public_html.html</a> too.
