Well, I installed IIS a looong tiem ago, bu tam now just getting involved. When I try to access http://localhost, it asks for username and password. I spose you could guess I have no idea what they were.....
Any ideas on workaround?

It sounds like your security settings do not have anonymous user access
enabled. It would help to know your version of IIS.
