First and foremost, I am a novice at updating this website. But I can use a
computer quite well.
I am running on an HP Pavilion desktop, Windows XP, IE 6.0 and Netscape 7.2
I recently began updating my mother's website for her and use Netscape
Composer to build the pages. I save as HTML files and then try to publish
using the composer publishing tool. The website is based on Doteasy.com and
often has "too many users" and I should try again later.
The webmaster who built the site for my mother explained to me to open the
website as
ftp://ftp.website.com, log in using my login ID, and copy the
files from my computer directly to the server location. This procedure
worked 95% of the time, unless there really were too many users. Last week,
I could not log in to the ftp location. The process would time out. Every
single time and has ever since. I have updates to make and can't gain access
at all through either Netscape Composer or IE
ftp.
HP tech support after a laundry list of ideas suggested a "non destructive"
recovery (if it's so non destructive, why won't my files be there afterwards?)
Bestbuy doesn't cover software stuff. Microsoft postings are my last line
of hope!!
Has anyone heard of this and could you help me figure it out please?
Thanks!!
