Two top headlines at icWales blew me away ... I thought
the U.S. had the monopoly on uncivilized and barbaric
behavior.

I have a question, though. What's going on with Tony
Blair? I'm starting to suspect a news blackout on him
here in the U.S.. I found one little article about his
losing popularity on an arab news site ... nothing
significant anywhere else.

Many of Bush's top aides are refusing to speak with the
press ... 'cept for Colin Powell who showed up on David
Letterman last night.

And why are news stories disappearing off websites?
"Sorry, the article you requested is no longer
available." Not in the archives along with all the
other articles the sites publish. Just gone.

It takes me quite a bit of time to do anything online,
anymore ... I've had three trojan horse attacks since I
started this post. The last one was from Kuwait. The
one before that was from Uraquay. No spyware. Settings
on my firewall are just fine. Is anyone else under
attack or am I just special? <g>

Hey Ms Jude! I'm in Scotland, Dylan's yer man for the latest from Wales!

If I am not mistaken, one of those stories is very close to where Dylan is.

The reason you are not seeing much of Blair is because Iraq is going
pear-shaped for him and Bush.

Surprised)

You don't know much about Wales do you?

heh ... special is as special does (insert your own innuendo).

I finally broke down and gave up the isp addy. The last
couple of weeks of spam and worms have got me half convinced
to give up broadband and go back to dailup. 98% of the
attacks are spam related ... I disabled my firewall long
enough to get a network popup (w2k) trying to sell me
something a woman of my "specialness" certainly doesn't need.
And I sure don't need some meat-beater to usurp my OS for
their evil intentions.

That and headless kitties and boys on fire have got me on edge
Sad

Putting the remark back into context ... this morning's email
showed me that everyone in THIS newsgroup (no others from what

by a linux machine in Italy. I don't feel so special anymore.

It's a figure of speech for something going wrong, ugly, deformed, not
to plan etc.

I guess it originated because apples, oranges and stuff are all round,
but because pears are, well, pear-shaped, they are deformed.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Thanks, David. The only "pear-shaped" reference I'd ever
heard is in regard to a woman's shape.

So, now that I know what you're talking about, Charles, you
should know that here in the U.S. we have a group of
journalists, senators and all of D.C. telling us that things
aren't bad there, at all. We're told that the Iraqis are
increasingly grateful to their liberators and that things are
progressing nicely.

I'm just not sure which scares me more ... the people telling
the lies or the people that believe them.

I find the scariest thing is how easily people (both in the US and here)
forget about something that happened, what 6 months ago?

That already people have forgotten about what world leaders said; that
the main reason for conflict was womd; that the US had defied the UN;
that people had been lied to and used; that innocent life both in Iraq
and the Twin Towers were used to justify the actions of the coalition:
people simply no longer care. They shrug and say, "Oh well, it didn't
affect me."

Yesterday I heard Bush telling the international community that to stop
all these 'evil doer muslim people' that he hates so much all countries
must take united, multilateral action. Well fuck me...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Hmm, I'd not actually noticed those stories on the news or anything.

You are mistaken ;o) I'm in North West Wales, but those stories were in
West Wales and South Wales respectively.
