That's because half of IE is already running as you boot up. Remember,
it's not a browser, it's an operating system component.

So to any person who says IE is a hog, how did you come to this conclusion?
Can did you calculate the resources that IE specially uses and come out
after your research and say IE uses too much resources. When you launch IE,
only one extra process gets added.

Naturally when Windows is running it's using a certain amount of resources.
Regardless of whether you're using IE or not, the resources that IE uses is
there and when you launch IE, it's going to use more RAM. When you launch
another browser and if it uses more memory than when IE lanched, I can say
the other browser uses more ram. I am only interested in the net effect. If
I am not using IE, I am not going to or can't technically release OS
resources that are specific to IE and then be able to compare apples with
apples.

You're always full of BS as usual. If I got the same reply from a guy, I
would have given out *the same exact reply*.
It annoys me when someone instead of saying "AFAIK, there's no such tool"
or "To the best of my knowledge, there's no such tool" but flatly says
there's none as if they are *so sure and confident*,3
0 that's nonesense.

If you look at the html source of that webpage, the javascript and css
stuff come from folders and file extensions that indicate libraries (I will
assume ready made libraries from a vendor) that gives me the impression
that a tool was used.

The fact that this stuff can be handcoded is irrelevant and that's not what
I asked for. Companies make money by producing tools like Dreamweaver,
Frontpage, GoLive, Net Objectetfusion, dhtml maker, stuff from coalsys.com,
telerik.com.. etc even though all the stuff that these tools produce can be
hand coded if someone has the skill, time or both.

I may be wrong, but I doubt there is a specific tool.

You may just want to look at the source code and also get the JS files from
there that are being called.

99% of the time its used for annoying mindless gimmicks or used where it
shouldn't be. i'm looking for information not cheap tricks.

i don't use FF its UI is just as dumbed down and crappy as IE. i moved
beyond kindergarten toys years ago. gecko engine is the only thing
going for it.

that'll get 'em coming out of the woodwork.

i don't think its fair comparing a pre-release browser

There are many sites that are funtionally useless if Javascript is disabled
and I need to use them. It's not a choice where I decide not to choose
them. For example, some sites have listboxes where if you choose an option,
it goes to aother page. There's no 'Go buttont o go there.

So which browser are you using? AFAIK Firefox and Mozilla both use the
Gecko engine. What parts of the UI you don't like? You're talking as if
Gecko is the actual browser.

Well.. millions are using the prerelease of Firefox and you're saying IE is
a hog so what are you comparing IE with and what's your point of reference
if you IE uses too much resources?
