Post subject: Best tool for log parsing?
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hi all,

I work for the NHS(uk), we have a clustered server environment and offer
hosting to other NHS organisations and departments within our own
organisation. Typically our clients use MS Frontpage for their publishing
needs.

We want to install some form of log parse which can create stats for each
client with the littlest of effort from ourselves.

The log parser will need to be able to load in log files from more than just
the local server (due to the cluster) and also have to be able to be
configured to look at subwebs individually and create the appropriate HTML
files (showing stats/charts whatever) into a set directory for each one...

Typical structure might look like this :

http://intranet
----> /Subweb 1
--------> /Logs
----> Subweb 2
--------> /Logs
----> Subweb 3
--------> /Logs

and so on.

Can anyone suggest a package free or other wise that will do the above (work
with clusters, automatically generate the log pages for each client etc).

Any and all info appreciated, especially if you've actually used any of the
products you suggest.

Best regards

Rob

Microsoft's Log Parser looks pervfect. You'll need to configure some
reports with it of course.

I use Analog and Report Magic for multiple site reporting.
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.analog.cx/" target="_blank">http://www.analog.cx/</a> Free, and if it's any help, I finally dumped
WebTrends for Analog, not because it's free but because it fit our
needs better.

Many thanks for your reply Jeff, I will look into the links you've sent me
and see if I can find something there that will suit us perfectly (and cost
less than 6k Very Happy)...

Cheers
