I'm now a member of the great unwashed and unemployed.....Soon to re-join
the ranks of the self-employed again......
Got sick of my boss treating me and talking to me like I'm a bit of dogshit
under his shoes.....Got sick of him only paying me £6 an hour.....Got sick
of him making me beg for my wages and justify to him why I should be getting
paid at all every Friday.....Got sick of him expecting me to do 3 other
peoples jobs besides my own for this paltry wage.....But the last straw that
broke the camels back was when he had a go at me for doing freelance work
for other clients during my spare time.....
I don't need that sort of bullshit in my life nowadays.....I put up with it
for 9 years while I was in the air force, but now I don't need to.....So I
told him where to shove his poxy job and walked......His loss, not
mine.....You guys have seen how untidy my coding can be, so imagine the
trouble he's gonna have finding someone else who can understand it and
maintain it......
So I no longer have anything to do with Prime Electrical4u anymore.......I'm
now lord and master of the Doohickeys empire......

I'm so happy for you Now, if everyone would quit their
corporate-slavestations, the world might be a nicer, if not primal, place.

Well after I got sacked recently from one of the bar jobs I had, that I was
only doing out of a sense of loyalty to the man, he was very F'ing rude to
me, apparently the previous night whilst drunk I had been trying to persuade
the barman to give me a discount, apparently I put pressure on him... one of
my specialisms is putting and easing off pressure, it is something I was
taught whilst in sales. (more to reduce pressure) that wasn't pressure...
So, I adjusted their website slightly... <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.KickersNC.co.uk" target="_blank">www.KickersNC.co.uk</a> it was quite
cool but the style sheet went walking and the text got changed slightly...

Hehehe...I don't think I'd go quite that far.....Besides, if my old boss has
even the slightest molecule of sense, he's already contacted the web hosts
to change the passwords to everything......

Interestingly enough, I've just noticed that less than 48 hours after I
walked out, his website is no-longer online.....What a shame.....
His business was about to collapse around his ears anyway.....Traditionally
he was a laundry engineering company (building laundrettes), and he decided
to branch into online selling of domestic appliances.....But just recently,
the website was the only side of the entire business that was still making
money.....It was propping everything else up......The guy was getting sued
left right and centre by laundrette owners who either hadn't had all the
work done that they'd paid for, or were left with dangerous and unsafe
laundry installations......
The alarm bells first started ringing in my head a few months ago when
bailiffs started turning up at the workshop demanding payments for various
things.....

Hey, congrats, Sam - Heaven knows it's daunting at times to do the self-
employed thing (but you already know that) - six pounds an hour, eh ? For
a web-dude ? Wow, that's only $14.65 (Canadian) an hour - I'd pay that
for someone fresh out of high school for straight text-to-HTML
conversion, but usually the minimum here is $20 an hour for basic HTML
(XE.com tells me that's 8.19 GBP an hour)
One of the nicest things about being self employed is having the ability
to tell your client's that they're "fired" cuz you don't have to put up
with crap like that. Fortunately, I've only had to do that twice or so,
but the expressions on their face / tone in their voices was worth it

Good luck, self employment has it's drawbacks. I'm self employed and
