Greetings

What do you think? Is this a spoiler for the well publicised IPO or a
genuine attempt at world domination?

http://techpreview.search.msn.com/

FWIW: The results [1] seem relevant.

Personally, it seems that some decent competition in this area is a good
thing.

[1] yeah - I only tested with /my/ favourite key words/phrases.

Not here. Yahoo has my site indexed, MSN has not, since I
blocked its bot. Even a search for locusmeus doesn't come with
my site on techpreview.search.msn.com. Does in Yahoo.

Yep. Sounds like Google backlash so everyone's trying to come up the next
best thing, which is, again, just a release of the same old thing.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

May one be so bold as to enquire at the purpose of doing such a thing?

That is to be expected, given the above.

They just were all over my site every day and every hour, and
after 4 months only 3 pages were indexed. Plus the bot was
counted as a visitor, not a bot, by Awstats, got me excited
everytime, just to see it was 'only the msnbot' Sad

Yep. Maybe I'll unblock them some day Smile

too slow. i'm already looking at googles second page of results before
their front page has finished downloading.

world domination. it'll be tightly integrated into longhorn so theres no
escaping using them.

crap[1]. the only result my search got was a warning about adult
material and go back and search again. ok if its going to be a childrens
search engine but totally unacceptable as default behavior otherwise.

yes

$5000 in damage. crickey they must want him real bad to get in a tizz about
such a trivial[1] figure.

Does bring into question the whole issue of non-disclosure and intellectual
property as it relates to staff and contractors though.

[1] it can cost a mega-corp $5k just to scan a log-file.

heh - it seems you're supposed to click the 'go back to ...' link

can forgive as it's beta, but definately not good as default behaviour in a
production service.
