Post subject: How to "stream" AVI files?

I know AVI files don't stream but what would be the easiest way to convert
them into a file that does stream?

When an MP3 loads you can start hearing it with Media player even though it
has not totally downloaded, can this be done with a video format?

You could try downloading RealEncoder and converting them into RealVideo
format.
