Hello. I've just installed Mandrake 9.2 with Apache. All I want is
the web server.

After a couple of minutes I noticed Apache just stopped serving pages.
The logs still work though.

Out put from apachectl extendedstatus

Apache Server Status for *localname.domain.com

This makes no sense to me....

On my error_log I have this repeating over and over

Now I've not changed anything. These are the default settings. On
a fresh (no more then three hour install).

apachectl restart has no effect. I need to turn off the computer and
restart in order for it to work again. But after several minutes it
just stops again.

I'm at my wits end. I've reinstalled Mandrake about four times
with different settings, and apache at least six, version 1.3, 2.0,
from source. Nothing works.
Is there any thing I should read any where? At this point I'll do
any thing...

So, in 10 seconds it started and stopped 3 times. It looks to me
that that installation have serious problems.
BTW on the PHP site there is a clear warning: don't use Apache
2 with PHP. Maybe is a problem with Mandrake.

Link...?

I'm running PHP on several Apache2 servers and I've never had any
problems.

If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough.

This isn't what they said. They said "is not recommended". That
means, it can work or not. If it doesn't don't bug us.

Have you checked the access log, messages and syslog at, and just before
these entries?
