I read about StateServer Session.
There seem to be two options either a network server or an sql server to
store the session.

1. What i need to know is if I use a network server (not mssql) does it have
to be
running windows & IIS (aspstate.exe)? Or can I just tell the IIS servers,
through webconfig to use a NAS to store session information?

2. What similar options do i have for classic ASP?

Thanks for your help

You mean, a nas (Network Access Server) a server without IIS?

Theoretically, you could use Windows XP running aspnet_state.exe and IIS
does not have to 'run' but to install the asp_net framework, IIS must be
installed.

Yes im using a NetApp, so i cant run IIS on it. So if i wanted to impelment
i would need three servers. Two in the farm and one to run the asp_state.exe
service? All have to run Windows?

thanx
