Post subject: can't start/stop IIS 5 on XP Pro
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

I've screwed something up as things used to be working
fine. For some reason, I am unable to access my
localhost. When I open the IIS snap-in my computer is
listed, but nothing else. I can't browse it, nor can I
stop or start the service. When trying to browse, I get
a DNS error. If I try to access any page on my
localhost, I get the DNS error.

Also, I use FP and it is unable to open any webs located
on localhost.

I've even tried using 127.0.0.1 and nothing.

I'm looking for help.
Thanks,
Ethan

If IIS Admin will not start (IIS manager dose not show any contents) the
Metabase is corrupted. You should look to uninstall IIS and reinstall.
Before reinstalling Delete the %system32%\inetsrv folder and
%systemDrive%\inetpub folder. And of course backup your data first.
