Can't start the IIS

I've been having this problem from sometime already. I have install and reinstalled the IIS 5.0 but the problem doesnt seem to go away.
When I try to start it I get the following message: "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"

Please give me some advise as this is driving me crazy. I don't seem to find a way around it.

Post the event log error associated with this *in full*.
