sponsored links website, how does this work?

I came across this site, it is made up of links to retail sites.
The owner of this site must make commissions on every click.
I don't understand the mechanics of this site.

The query links are really long
How does one set up a business relationship with all these different
retail sites?
Setting up an affilate relationship with dozens of retail sites would
take forever.
I don't think this is google adsense, or yahoo.
I am just curious how this works.
Any info on this would be appreciated. thanks
