being more specific:
if i create a "new web site"
with just a html page called "hello.htm"
and sets this page as default
i get the (in a browser, on the server )
"... page no longer exists or might be moved..."
and at the foot : "internet information services"
but on lan hosts only say
"http 404 file not found.
internet explorer"

its very strange...
if i run "network monitor" (NetMon)
i see NO packets incoming....
NO packets captured....
but,
if no packets captured
why at the firewall
i get "Internet infor...." message
at the foot of page ?
does the server computer receives
packets or not?
if not, why IIS is answering ?

thanks everybody
i remove the URLSCAN ISAPI FILTER
and all is works well
the change in the URLScan.ini i made
is :
UseAllowExtensions=0 --> default, enabling tag [DenyExtensions]
by
UseAllowExtensions=1 --> for enable tag [AllowExtensions]
for allow only ".asp and .htm, .gif, .jpg"
that is the problem
when i go back to "UseAllowExtensions=0 "
and restart IIS --- ALL WORKS FINE AGAIN
does it is a bug in UrlScan ?????

Has it ever worked?
And as Ken said, do you have ZoneAlarm? There seems to be problems with the
latest version of ZoneAlarm.

it worked with the old server
i am configuring the new server
probing this :
new web site
port 80, all unassigned, etc
c:\folder\hello.htm that just contains "hello!"
and have everyone full control permissions...
i have touched urlscan.ini
changed denyexts
to allowexts : .ASP .HTM .JPG .GIF
could it be the cause?
i now see that i have not
mime for ASP in the IIS-WWW properties
....does it is right?

Hi,
What OS is the server running? What version of IIS?
Are you trying to reach the server from a remote host? Or are you trying to
browse the websites locally (ie you are running the browser on the same
machine as the webserver)?
You mentioned an error before - what is the exact error message?
