Post subject: Is the sitemap important for indexing??

I haven't updated my sitemap file in a while, and was wondering if it is
really important. I have a dynamic content site, and though I use modrewrite
to create .html links, they are still dynamic.

Anything that helps the search engines find all the parts of your
website is a good thing....So long as it doesn't contravene the usual
ToS for search engine listing....
