Post subject: IIS6 & simultaneous downloads.
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

I have an IIS6 server running on Windows2003 Web Edition.

I have a bunch of .WMV files I am sharing out using HTTP.

If I click to download a single file then it downloads
just fine.

If I click to download two files, they both download just
fine.

If I click to download THREE or MORE files then the first
two download, but the others are put on HOLD. Once one
of the download finishes, another download can start, but
I only ever get TWO simultaneous downloads running at any
one time.
This problem affects all clients, but it should be noted
when one client is downloading two files, then any other
client can still go in and download their two files.

I have NOT limited the number of simultaneous connections.
I have NOT enalbed bandwidth throtteling.

I think that this is a server-side configuration problem,
but I have no idea how to configure this.

Does anyone know how to altner the number of files that
an individual client can download simultaneously.

Thanks.

That's Internet Explorer complying with HTTP standards. Only 2 simultaneous
connections at once. Start 2 downloads, then go to another machine and
you'll still be able to download

But I need to configure the server to allow more than two
simultaneous downloads to a single computer.

How do I do that?

Thanks.

It's not the server that needs to be configured, it's the client. The
actual standard is 2 connections. Netscape doesn't impose this limit, but
that creates a lot of stress for the servers it connects to

You cannot configure this at the server. It is not controlling it, but the client.

Thank you. I hope this information is helpful.
