Hi,
I set up IIS 5.0 on a DC in a LAN in order to build an intranet. When i type
the local IP of the IIS-server ( 10.0.0.50) in the browser of the
IIS-server, the index.asp starts, but when a user on a client computer does
the same, he gets "the page cannot be displayed".
All the webpages are in one directory. That directory is webshared but not
shared. Must that directory also be shared on NTFS level? I tried with
Directory security Anonymous on and out, all IP are granted.
Thanks

Turn off friendly error messages in your browser and then
post the real error message.

Possibly an IE issue:
Intranet site is identified as an Internet site when you use an FQDN
or an IP address:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://support.microsoft.com/?id=303650" target="_blank">http://support.microsoft.com/?id=303650</a>

I did:
the error is: "cannot find server" in the blue bar above. The page mentions
"the page cannot be displayed"
I can ping. I did in the browser: <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://10.0.0.50" target="_blank">http://10.0.0.50</a>
I see that the directory with the webpages is on a FAT disc. Is that
important?
Thanks again

Thanks for replying. I put the IP and domain name into internet
options/security/locl intranet/sites, but there is still a problem.
When i logged from a client computer as a normal domain-user, i get "cannot
find the server", but when i add 'domain admin' to that user, it works.
Where have i to search?
Thanks

Post full errors. My guess is you have permissions set on the folder
or possibly the site that require admin permission. Check permissions
and if you want anyone to have access don't use Windows Integrated
authentication.
