Hello,
I just got a new PC running XP and upgraded to the professional version so
that my .asp pages would run. I have downloaded and installed IIS6. Within
IIS under the file menu to install a new web site, however the only things
that I can select are "options" and "exit". the right hand pane has no items
listed at all. Where must I go to start the web site and select a new virtual
directory?

Hello,

Did you download something else? Because IIS cannot be downloaded, so maybe
you have not yet installed IIS 5.1 properly (IIS 6.0 does not run on Windows
XP).

Try to install IIS from the Windows XP CD, and see if the problem persists.

Good Luck!

a) You can not download IIS 6.0

b) IIS 6.0 does not run on Windows XP - only IIS 5.1 does

c) You install IIS 5.1 from your Windows CD. Start -> Settings -> Add/Remove
Programs -> Windows Components -> Internet Information Services

d) After installing IIS make sure you visit WindowsUpdate and get the latest
IIS patches!

e) Now, open IIS Manager in the Administrative Tools folder, expand your
computer, expand websites. There should be a website listed called "Default
Web Site"

Cheers
Ken
