service control manager errors:

The World Wide Web Publishing Service service hung on
starting.

The Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) service hung on
starting.

The Network News Transport Protocol (NNTP) service hung

The FTP Publishing Service service hung on starting.

Logon attempt with current password failed with the
following error:
Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

Please help.

Hi hkwan,

Based on my experience on this issue, there will be many reasons which will
cause this error.

I'd suggest you can check the network configuration of your firewall
application if you have installed one. If some restrictions remain, please
remove them and try to restart these IIS services.

If there is no firewall application installed in your box, I'd suggest you
can follow the KB article to troubleshoot this issue. Please go to:
295162 System Errors When You Open World Wide Publishing Service or
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=295162

In addition, if all above give no help, it will be appreciated that you
post the IIS5 log in the newsgroup or mail it to me. I have mailed you
about this issue.

Please feel free to let me know if you have questions!

Does this answer your question? Thank you for using Microsoft NewsGroup!
