Hello, I have a small network and I am trying setup some public websites.
Here is the network layout:

WAN_____Server1(IIS)_______Workstations
|__________Server2(IIS)

I have some some public websites currently being hosted on Server1. I want
to have some public websites on Server2 as well. Is there anyway that I can
forward requests from the WAN to Server2 via Server1? Both machines are
running W2K3 Server standard edition.

Thanks for your help,
Marc.

It would be a lot easier if server2 were also connected to your WAN... is
server1 really your gateway out as your diagram implies?

Yes, server1 is the gateway. Thanks for your help.

Marc.

You can only do this if you have more than 1 public IP assigned to Server1
(since it is your gateway).

What if it wasn't my gateway? How could I set it up then. This is still
assuming I have only one public IP address but server2's gateway isn't
server1.

Thanks
Marc.

Hello,

RRAS can be configured to forward all requests to a specific port to an
internal computer. So say that everything to <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.server1.com:81" target="_blank">www.server1.com:81</a> goes to
server2.

You need to provide a method for server 2 to be reached from the WAN
side. This means a public IP, or a separate port from server 1's set
of ports and using port forwarding.

Alternatively, you can have all sites on server 1, but files for the
sites on server 2. Not pretty, but possible.

Is there nothing I can do with my server's DNS. How about something with
Host Headers???

Ummm.... No. If the second server cannot be recahed from outside, it
can't host sites that are available to the outside. That's basic
networking and nothing in IIS can change that.

You can have the site on Server 1 and all content on Server 2, but the
site has to be defined where it can be reached.
