Post subject: IIS server is running but website was down
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Dear all,

We have one window 2000 server host for few websites. One
of the website was not responding at all, but others were
working perfectly well.

I took a look on the server but couldn't find out what
was wrong, nothing indicating the problem in the event
log.

The problem went away when i restarted IIS (not the whole
machine, just IIS).

Is anybody know why? And how to solve it?

Thanks and regards,
Clarin

Were there any error messages when you browse to the site? Are there any
error messages in the application or System event viewer logs? What is your
IIS configuration? Are your sites all set to medium pooled? Is the broken
site connecting to any databases?

Thanks.

- Two virtual directories set to Low(IIS Process)
- Connect to SQL Server 2000

Site B & C
- medium (pooled)
- Connect to SQL Server 2000

Site D=20
- High (Isolated)
- Connect to SQL Server 2000

Thanks and regards,
Clarin

Sound like a hang. How do you recover? What happens if you move the two
vrtual directories in to High? Have you tested the SQL connections in the
broken site? Have you looked at the SQL servers performance at all?

Thanks.
