Even though that was terrible English for a UK-based person, I'll answer
your question - "Can anyone point me in the right direction about getting a
search engine to find my website?"

Google has some answers regarding this:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.google.com/webmasters/1.html" target="_blank">http://www.google.com/webmasters/1.html</a>

Also, for Yahoo! web search and Altavista:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/indexing/indexing-06.html" target="_blank">http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/indexing/indexing-06.html</a>

Summed up, you should manage to swap links with other websites that has
content related to your own, and that's already in the databases of the
major search engines. Also, make sure you have your own content fresh and in
tip-top quality. Even better, provide a little extra something that no-one
else (or at least few others) has.
