Before you rush to becme an affiliate and start earning $000's, read
the terms and consitions CAREFULLY

For example:

"TrafficMarketplace, reserves the absolute right not to pay any
accounts or Publishers that violate any of the terms and conditions
set forth herein. TrafficMarketplace will be responsible for
determining, in its sole and absolute discretion, what acts and
omissions violate this policy, and which acts include activity that is
deceptive or fraudulent in nature."

Sound okay? Well read it again. This says that the company can refuse
to pay you at its whim, and you have no right of redress in law.

You might like to take appropriate legal advice before agreeing to the
terms and conditions of any affiliate scheme, otherwise you might find
yourself making $000's not for yourself, but for the affiliated
company.

Matt

Thanks for that Matt. Confirmation that many of these schemes are a bloody
joke.

I find such terms quite offensive, but it is quite common! There is a good
chance your webhost has terms similar to these:
- "We reserve the right to cancel your account at any time without notice."
- "We reserve the right to suspend or cancel a customer's access to any or
all services we provided when we decide that the account has been
inappropriately used."
- "We reserve the right to refuse, cancel, or suspend service at our sole
discretion."
- "We reserve the right to suspend or cancel a customer's access to any or
all services provided by us when we decide that the account has been
inappropriately used or otherwise."

Sad

Yes, but you don't derive income from your host.

Well, it could be argued that your commercial website on your host is
related to 'deriving income from your host'.

Basically, the terms are there as an 'out' for abusive customers. Of
course, they can also be used by abusive hosts, but those tend not to stay
in business that long.

Heck, even Bell Canada has similar terms for their hosting as well as their
DSL access - rarely userd, because of the negative PR it generates, but
there nonetheless as an 'out' for them to use in case of need.

The only affiliate program we are involved with has common sense
rules, E.G.: no spamming to get people to join. It is an adult group
for couples to meet other couples and singles [swingers]. We were so
impressed with them that within three days of our one month free
trial, we paid for a lifetime membership. A few days after that we
joined their affiliate program. They pay 30% on people who sign up
that use your referral ID. Their is a DAILY log of who signed up using
your ID and the date [if any] on which people paid to join. The log
indicates when a check has been sent to you.

If anyone is curious about the rep of any individual affiliate
program, just google them. google their regular business also to see
how they treat regular paying customers.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
