Post subject: IIS 6.0 resets Frontpage HOME page to default document???
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

I want IIS 6.0 (Server 2003) to have default document intro.html - this page has a button redirecting visitor to index.html which is the Frontpage website home page. However, when setting intro.html as the default document in IIS it screws up my Frontpage in that the HOME button now sends people to intro.html instead of index.html - so the intro plays everytime somebody presses HOME - why is Frontpage 2003 taking it's homepage info from IIS 6.0 and how can I break that connection so that IIS default document is NOT linked to Frontpage website HOME?? Thanks.

The home button probably links to <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.yourdomain.com" target="_blank">www.yourdomain.com</a> (ie, the root of the
folder). So when you click the button, you will request for the root, and
IIS gives you the default document. If you instead changed the button link
to index.html, you will have no problems.

Thanks - the HOME button is automatically generated by FP2003 as it generates the navigation bar on each page. There does not seem to be any way to edit the home button within Frontpage. Any ideas?

Then, there is nothing you can do. IIS is working as expected. The user
requests for the file, and IIS serves it. IIS cannot "fix" a link that is
wrong.
