Hi,

In some of my sites over that last year or so I have noticed that there is a
referer who is showing up as ....
"XXXX:+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++"
the refering domain is "X:++++++++++++++++++++++".

Has anyone else found this? Is this a robot of some kind?

I really dont like it because it make my stats window really wide, and
whenever it comes up, I must scroll to read the page. The way I have got
around this is to grep for this string when it comes in, and truncate it.

Yes, I think it's some privacy feature that anonymises the referrer info in
either Norton or some such firewall programme,
IIRC. It would be better if it just posted "blank" or actually made the
referrer blank. The good news is, it's likely to be a real visitor.
