I really want to find opinions on a good Oz registrar (I want to deal
with a local company and pay in Australian dollars) but want local and
international domains. Price is a big issue (domains are a commodity
after all), but also want them to be easy to deal with (had enough of
Notwork solutions messing me around!).
Have been looking but are there any domain registry directories?
TIA,

Hi Rick,
I've started using Nameplace ( www.nameplace.com.au ) recently. The
service is good, I like their interface and the price is less
expensive than most Australian domain reg companies.
Steer well clear of Melbourne IT (www.melbourneit.com.au)
Jim.

I've moved all of my domains from clickngo to nameplace - I was below
the bulk-buy discount level but they still gave me a discount for
multiple domains.

There are only five.

They aren't a TLD registrar.

It is good to buy from a local registrar or reseller - except Aussie ones
tend to be overpriced.
We are only over the ditch but our prices are way lower!
If you are talking small numbers, say two to 5 names then check out
godaddy.com. They have a good setup, their prices are as good as you will
get from a registrar, (some resellers like us will go lower for bulk), and
they have good resources for managingh your names. >> Stay informed about: Anyone recommend a good Aussie registrar? |

Nameplace is $25 per domain year, about $US15. Perfectly reasonable
considering the service and the good interface. Plus they do
discounts on bulk.

Not necessarily, see above.

I prefer the Nameplace interface. GoDaddy's interface looks a bit like
it was designed by a programmer - it isn't all that intuitive unless,
I suppose, you are also a programmer >> Stay informed about: Anyone recommend a good Aussie registrar? |

Absolutely, our prices go as low as US$7 (bulk purchases) but nothing is
more than US$9

I pointed to godaddy as an alternative at a reasonable price for the OP.
I/we have no connection to godaddy
Our interface is much simpler and deals only with the requirements for
domain name management. No advertising or additional facilities for other
things.
