Sorry for crossposting, I'm trying to fix this in a hurry:

This is very confusing. I have a new machine, running Windows XP Pro and
Frontpage 2002. I am trying to publish a web from an old harddrive to the
new wwwroot. Whenever I attempt to do this w/ FrontPage, I get the "web
server cannot be found at "jimmy" (Computer name is Jimmy, the default
wwwroot location is http://jimmy/).

The localhost default documents work fine, as does asp that i put in the
default WinXP localhost document (I put a asp "Hellow World" line on it).
So, when I put in the browser "http//jimmy/", I get the normal WinXP
http://jimmy/localstart.asp and
http://localhost/iishelp/iis/misc/default.asp documents. I have used the
IIS administrator and Server Extensions Administrator to check server
extensions on all the new folders I'm trying to make, and I get the "Do you
wish to tighten security for all Frontpage webs", I click yes, it does it,
eveyrhting seems to be fine. I see all my aborted web folder attempts in
the browser of both of these administrative tools, and I see no errors when
I try the "tasks" such as recaluclate Web, etc.

What is going wrong here? What needs to be done to get FrontPage to be able
to publish a disk-based web to the localhost?

Also, I notice that FrontPage Open Web cannot see my wwwroot in any of the
shortcut icons on the left (favorites, network places, etc.). Whenever I
try to add a new location, I get the same "could not locate web server at
Jimmy, please make sure the server name is correct," etc.

Thanks for any help, and if this should go in a different group, please let
me know.

Sounds like you need to install the FrontPage Server Extensions onto IIS.
