Can anyone advise on webhosting.
I have searched the internet and am finding 100's if not 1000's of companies
offering webhosting services.
I have tried a few and been stung every time, works well for a few weeks
then the site goes belly up. It takes ages to restore the site to a new
host only for it to go belly up again.....

What I need is reliability, not as to cost a fortune, but long term
stability of the company. I am happy to expect some downtime, even an hour
a day, what I need is to know the site WILL be back.

I am also interested in which hosts host other company sites, e.g. mtv.com,
google.com, as well as smaller companies (.co.uk). Only to get an idea of
reliability of these hosts.

for my site I require approx. 200Mb disk space
PHP
MySQL (min 3 databases)
Ideally Cpanel
Mail forwarding
1Gb bandwidth per month should suffice

Any advice appreciated.

On Wed, 2 Jun 2004 22:54:14 +0000 (UTC), I got off my lazy butt and
replied to Paul, who wrote the following message
<c9llql$5s0$1@titan.btinternet.com>:

Bigger sites like google and mtv would not be using shared hosting. They
would be hosted on dedicated machines for just that one site with all
the traffic they generate.

 >for my site I require approx. 200Mb disk space
 >PHP
 >MySQL (min 3 databases)

I can do:

o 200mb Disk Space
o PHP4, Perl, CGI
o 8gb Bandwidth
o 50 Mail Forwarding Addresses
o 41 POP3 Accounts
o 3 Domain Allocations
o 10 Sub Domains
o 1 MySQL Database

Cost: $35.40AUD a month ($24.70USD)
With 2 extra Databases: $51.40AUD a month ($35.87USD)
