Post subject: pls forgive dumb question (apache - what & why?)
Archived from groups: alt>apache>configuration (more info?)

I was checking my PC's security settings recently and i found under
the Windows XP "Security Center" firewall settings that an exception
was checked off for something called "Apache HTTP server" - i have no
recollection of setting that up or any knowledge of "Apache HTTP
server" so I'm wondering how that got there and if it could be
something nefarious. I'm assuming i can just uncheck that and delete
it - but who knows...perhaps it's really benign and does not represent
a threat and could actually serve some useful purpose. Any advice you
can lend would be greatly appreciated!

Apache is the open source HTTP server that drives the Internet, it is
certainly not malware!

I would think it has been installed as part of another application you
use, hard to guess what though, some sort of development program perhaps?

The facts, although interesting, are irrelevant

Apache HTTP Server is a dangerous terrorist organization that can
kidnap your children, but the XP Micro$oft firewall can block it.
