Archived from groups: alt>apache>configuration (more info?)

Hi,
my apache sometimes generates php pages of phpbb forum up to 40 sec delayd.
there is no specific CPU overload, i see nothing in logs, nor in ps alx.
beside apache 2.0.49-27 of course phpbb forum, or mysql 4.0.18 might be
the cause. but when i break the page generation with a brower button and
restart it then it comes suddenly !
How could I limit the possible source of error ?
thanx in advance
