Local Chicago businessman launches personal attack on SPAM
Creates "Do not call list" for e-mail with ethicalemail.com
(Chicago, Ill., June 1, 2004) - If you have an email account, chances
are you have been hit by SPAM. Local Chicago businessman Rocky Mosele
is no different. However, when it started to affect his business, he
decided to do something about it.
Leveraging the Anti-SPAM law, Mosele has enlisted top attorneys and
software engineers to launch a completely free Internet site at
www.ethicalemail.com in hopes of putting an end to the enormous amount
unsolicited email users receive on a daily basis.
The process is simple. Email users can log onto ethicalemail.com and
enter their email address. The addresses will then be compiled into a
"do not contact" database. Mosele plans to deliver the database of
names to the bulk email houses that are responsible for billions of
emails being generated on the Internet. According to the law, the bulk
email houses will have 10 days to remove those email names from their
databases.
"I am just completely sick and tired of being attacked by bulk email
and SPAM and I am confident that the vast majority of email users
agree with me," said Mosele. "The public does not have to wait for the
government to respond, we can do this on our own."
Mosele admits that the process will not be 100 percent effective at
stopping SPAM, but by distributing the ethical email database to the
largest bulk email houses, a large percentage can be eliminated. Also,
as new bulk email companies surface, the ethical email database can be
distributed to them to stop them from sending emails to the do not
contact list.
"We are taking a different approach to the problem with ethical email,
everyone is trying to block unsolicited email," as various existing
software does, "we are trying to stop unsolicited email," added
Mosele.
In addition to a large-scale radio campaign to promote the effort,
Mosele anticipates that the Ethical Email database will grow rapidly
through grassroots efforts on the Internet and by word of mouth. He
expects to have millions of email addresses compiled within days and
hopes to be knocking on the door of email houses shortly there after.
