Hello:

Just migrated from Exch 5.5 OWA to Exch 2003 OWA. I have a SSL certificate
for my OWA. It is "owa.mydomain.com" I configured OWA on the Exch 2003
server and applied my SSL certificate to the default web site. I then
configured a redirect to the /Exchange virtual folder. Users can access the
site just fine but they are redirected to "owa.mydomain.com/exchange" This
causes a warning on the certificate of "The name on the security certificate
is invalid or does not match the name of the site".

I want my redirect to redirect the user to the virtual folder but I need it
to be displayed correctly so the certificate will work. Does anyone have
any idea how to do this?

Hi Harrison,

If the certificate's common name correctly matches the site's DNS
name "owa.mydomain.com", the warning "The name on the security
certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site" should
not occur. If you directy browse to
"http://owa.mydomain.com/exchange/", will the warning dialog still
pops up?

Please double-click to view this certificate. In its Details tab,
select Subject, check if its CN is exactly "owa.mydomain.com".

WenJun:

Thanks for replying to my post. I checked the subject and it reads
"owa.mydomain.com". You said that this certificate should not do this.
This actually comes up as a security alert when you first hit the site. I
didn't think I should get this either. Some machines get the alert and some
after hitting once don't get the alert anymore.

Any ideas you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Harrison,

Sounds like the issue is a bit weird.. Smile As I known, CN doesn't
match server's DNS is the only reason for IE to report this warning.
Please make sure you just used DNS name in the URL to access the site
but not IP, localhost or machine name.

Here is a IIS SSL troubleshooting tool:
SSL Diagnostics Version 1.0 (x86)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=CABEA1D0-5A10
-41BC-83D4-06C814265282&displaylang=en

It will scan your SSL deployment to find errors. Double-click a
cert's data in its trace and SSLDiag will create a second trace to
test the HTTPS connection on IIS. If you are willing to, please send
both these two traces to my corp mailbox for me to take a look:
