I've been asked to create a website for a small non-profit organization
that helps underprivileged students find jobs. One thing that was asked
was to have a page for online donations. Besides PayPal, does anybody
have any recommendations for this kind of thing. Does a merchant account
have to be setup even though it's not really an online store? Of course
the less fees involved, the better. And, has to be secure (obviously).
Thanks

underprivileged students ? get real

I know 'what you know' comes a poor second to 'who you know' but take a look
around. There's a whole bundle of kids without either.

/rant over

good luck with your web site.

I don't know what you're talking about. There might not be any in your
commmunity, but if you want to come here to Los Angeles, I can take you
to many neighborhoods that don't have the resources of say...Beverly Hills.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Access to a good education and the apparent oxymoron suggested by
'underprivileged students'.

btw: I see from elsewhere in the thread you are talking about nurses. You
could do worse than point them at the UK. I believe the UK government will
occasionally sponsor immigrants qualified for nursing posts.

The UK and other corporate governments will sponsor any immigrants so
long as they will work excessive hours for reduced pay. Locals don't
much like it though, so you have to make a noise about deporting
illegal immigrants, but that's just part of the spin.

Just wondering...how would you respond to the finished site if it was
created by people who didn't know web design principles and technology? Wink

I gave up nursing when my son was 7 months old - he got distracted too
easily, so my milk went dry.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

dunno about elsewhere but in oz most hospitals have a volunteer
organization. doing volunteer shit will give them practical experience
and also a foot in the door for when they finish their nursing training.
the staff will already know what kind of worker you are and thats a very
big advantage over others going for the same job.

thats how i got my nursing job anyway. i didn't even have to apply for a
job as soon as i got my degree they hired me which really pissed off all
the other students.

That's also true in (some parts of) the UK. There's also the nursing bank -
a sort of dating agency for hospitals and nurses.
