KP,
The MetaBase is to IIS what the Registry is to Windows. Until IIS 4.0 all
of the settings for IIS were stored in the registry. Starting with IIS 4.0
those settings were moved into the MetaBase.
The default location for the physical MetaBase is
<%systemroot%>/winnt/system32/inetsrv/metabase.bin.
