Post subject: IIS No longer serves webpages
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Starting this morning IIS hangs when a request for a website is made. The
browser throbber scontinues to move and the status bar says the site was
contacted and is waiting for a response, but it never loads the site. I
also can not launch the IIS manager as this causes the whole system to hang.
This is happening to me when viewing locally. I found some information that
suggests the metabase might be corrupt but nothing concrete to convince me
this is the cause. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

We don't have anything concrete either. An error message, an event
log entry, even a log file entry might have given us something to work
with. The obvious first step is to undo whatever change was made that
resulted in this not working. Remove AV and securtiy softwrae, check
firewalls, etc. Be sure you're testing with a generic "Hello World!"
page..

SJ: IIS Uptime Tool

Shawn,

While you are diagnosing the problem you might want to
take advantage of our server restarter, ReJuvin8. It's
free for the first 15-days. That's enough for some.
Its all software, you can download and use it today.

It monitors both websites and processes generally. It
sends out phone and e-mail alerts when things hang
up. It can also restart and optionally re-boot your
server. Also has neat HTML graphic status views.

For ReJuvin8, Version 4.1 of June 2005:

Also, see it, with ratings, at

ReJuvin8. Since 2002.

Keywords: hung server, server hangs, server crash,
website crash
