IX Webhosting boosts a 99% up time for their servers. I recently switched
from Yahoo! webhosting to IX Webhosting because Yahoo! was limiting my email
attachment size. While I like having
anonymous FTP with IX Webhosting and it's easy to talk to tech
support, their claim of 99% uptime is ridiculous! In the month that I
have had them for a hosting service, my website and/or email have been
down for hours at least once a week. I'm so frustrated by it, that I
will probably switch back to Yahoo! or another well-known service. I
don't know if I'll ever trust another virtually unknown provider.

Have you taken a look at <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.blacktiehosting.com" target="_blank">http://www.blacktiehosting.com</a>

You can purchase an SSL for about $39.00
A dedicated Ip which you would need to go along with that
is $7.00/mo I believe.

All accounts come with:
cPanel
Fantastico
Add on Domains
Parked Domains
Unlimited Subdomains
Unlimited MySql Databases

And a lot more.

I think they are claiming 99% server uptime, a lot of time it is the network
that's down. How's Yahoo! uptime by the way?

Actually, the problems were always their problems, not the network. They
would even admit it was their fault. I was horrified to learn that they
don't even have a backup power supply when theirs failed at one point.

Yahoo's uptime has been great. In the five years I was using them, they only
were down about a half dozen times...and usually it was just the email and
not the web site. I just didn't like having my email attachments limited in
size.

How big a size of attachments are you attaching? Are you using POP3 or the
web-based e-mail system? I am always interested to know the consumers'
needs and competitors' offers, hope you don't mind.

Since I'm a freelance graphic designer, I often work with large files. My
customers need to send me high resolution images and usually several. Some
printers I work with don't have FTP sites, so I have to email them the print
files. My biggest are for billboards. Those files can be 80MB or more. Oh,
and I use POP3.

I see, POP3 shouldn't be a problem. But we do set a 3MB limit on our
webmail (horde, running on PHP) though. Let me know if you would like a
30-day free trial from us.
