I'm trying to install IIS on a windows 20003 server R2 with service pack
2. Every time it stops at the same point and prompts me with...

"Setup cannot copy the file convlog.exe. Ensure that the location
specified below is correct, or change it and insert 'Service Pack 2
CD-ROM' in the drive you specify."

I have tried pointing it to the I386 directory on the install CD. I have
tried reinstalling SP2 and then running the IIS setup again. All to no
avail. It always stops and prompts for that same file. I'm frustrated.
Any ideas for me?

Thanks.
Chad

Try pointing it to:

C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386

I tried that. That's actually the directory it defaults to when it tries
to find the file. What's bizarre is the directory is there, the file is
there, but still the install stops with the same message ...

"setup cannot find the file..."

Hi Chad,

What does the %windir%\iis6.log say...
Are there any errors in it?

Hi Joseph,

I'm also having same problem and I deleted the log file and retried
installation after I saw your message. I checked the log file step by
step and there was no FAIL messages while "file not found" error
appeared. As soon as I choosed to end installation because I couldn't
point to file the log had some FAIL messages as you can see below:

Dear Chad,

The problem that you have is probably because of a corruption in the
Windows Security Database.

I was having the same problem and I successfully solved it after I
applied the solution in the following KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884018

The article precisely describe the problem but for Windows XP which
applies also to Windows Server 2003.

The solution that I used was rebuilding security database, it can be
found in the following KB Article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278316

I hope that this will help and please reply back with the results that
you get.

Amir Alfoly
