IIS https redirect not working

I have set up a Exchange 2003 front end server and under
IIS6 I have set the resirect to
https://servername/exchange/. Problem is when I call the
http://servername/exchange/ it comes up with the 403.4
error instead of redirecting to https://. On a similar
sever with IIS5 this redirect works.

Is this a "feature" in IIS6 or is there further
configuration I need to tend to?

I have tested this and not come up with the same results as you have:

Here are my steps:

1. remove the default document setting on the default site
2. on the Home directory tab, type the full URL (
https://machinetest/exchange )
3. select a permanent redirection to this resource
4. Apply and Ok

This worked 100% of the time for me. Try both inside and out side the IIS
MMC.
