Archived from groups: alt>apache>configuration (more info?)

how come there are two configuration files in one apache?

i used to edit httpd.conf, but what about httpd-std.conf?

If you screw up the configuration file beyond recognition, and
want go back to a 'clean' version that works, you copy the
standard one to httpd.conf and you're all set. Also, if you
upgrade your apache, the standard one will be upgraded too, but
the modified version won't. So you always have a working backup.
