Has anyone received a message from his hast like this:
/_From the traceroute results that you have provided it is clear that
Qwest, which a major US backbone Internet service provider, is blocking
all access requests to user IP addresses within our network, for an
unknown reason. From other traceroute results that we have received it
seems that TimeWarner, another major US backbone Internet service
provider is doing the same thing. We are currently trying to resolve the
problem with Qwest and TimeWarner, but I cannot provide you with a time
frame when it will be resolved. From our experience in the past, we know
that such communication is difficult, because Qwest and TimeWarner are
giant companies and we are just a small web hosting provider and it is
difficult to make them listen to us._/
Anyone?

I haven't, but then I don't use a crappy, bottom-feeder, crap-spewing piece of
shit provider like Wanadoodoo. If that's where your site is hosted, move your
site. I can't blame other providers for blocking the idiots at Wanadoo. As soon
as I have some time to collect Wanadoo's netblocks I will probably block them
myself. They do NOTHING about attacks from their netspace, and I'm not talking
about spam (hi Charles!) although they suck in that department too; I'm talking
about crack/breakin attempts from their network. I've tried communicating with
them; it's pointless.
On the other hand, given that we're talking about Wanadoo, it's possible they
are lying to you too. ALL of Qwest? ALL of Time Warner? Even though we're
talking about Wanadoo, I still find that somewhat hard to believe. I can
believe that lots of pieces of the network are blocked because many of their
CUSTOMERS are refusing packets from you, though.

Good. I was worried for you, for a minute. Can you provide me a relevant IP
address or two? If so, I should be able to give you a semi-intelligent answer
to your question.

Hi, Charles
First of all, yes, NEVER allow facts to get in the way of a good rant, and I
thought mine was pretty good. Second, the assumption that he was referring to
Wanadoo was understandable, was it not?

Wanadoo are a large telecommunications company, and are typical of
same. I don't think it's fair to single them out for special
criticism, we have similar problems from other large networks.

My site is up again, thank heavens.
What I donīt understand is what you are complaining about Wanadoo. It
has been serving me very well as a provider.
It was just the hosting company wich had a problem with the site.
By the way the site is http:pjm.fateback.com

Who's singling them out? I used to do ISP tech support. Ask me about my
experiences at work with SBC. For that matter, ask me about the two hundred
dollars of services they failed to provide and attempted to collect from me
anyhow, until I filed a report with my state regulatory agency.
Believe me. "Wanadoo sucks" != "other telcos are great".
Wanadoo just sucks far worse than most.

Number one, you didn't tell me who was having the problem and I assumed Wanadoo
because thats where you posted from.
Number two, when people attempt denial of service attacks or breakins against
my server and Wanadoo does absolutely nothing about it, I have every damned
right to complain about them. We're talking criminal acts here. All I was
asking is that the perps' accounts got nuked.
