IE hangs???

wierdest issue... I've got a page that I'm opening in an IFRAME window using
JS
document.getElementById('fmePane').src = 'pagename.htm' and the majority of
the time the page comes up just fine... Every once in a blue moon the page
will not load into the IFRAME, instead IE just hangs, then 20 minutes later
the IFRAME loads a 'Page Could Not Be Found' error... The page is still there
and it's still accessible when I close the browser then open it back up.
It's really weird because there's no rhyme or reason to when it decides to
hang and when it runs perfectly okay!

Has anyone ever seen anything like this before???

What does this have to do with IIS? You seem to talk exclusively about IE...

What steps have you taken to see whether this an IIS or IE problem? (eg do
you see the request being logged in IIS log? Have you used a network sniffer
to see what traffic is going back/forward between the client and server?)
