Is IIS the Windows component that will allow me to host websites on my server? I am beginning the process of creating a corporate Intranet and want to ensure I have a clear understanding of what I am doing. So the first step in any (Windows hosted) Intranet setup is to make sure IIS is installed and updated, correct?

In general, yes. In specific too. Smile

The *first* step is management buy-in to a defined set of objectives,
but yes, the first technical step would be to install IIS and make
sure you can get a test page out of it.

You can use other web server software as welll, but you already have
IIS.
