Post subject: Where to look for error codes?
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hello,
My IIS will not start, and gives the error, "Unexpected
error 0x8ffe2740" when I try to start it through the
administration snap-in. Can anything possibly be more
cryptic?

I have looked through the IIS error codes listed in the
SDK docs, and they do not come close to matching or
describing this error.

Where can I go to find out what this error means?

Thank you greatly,
Rich S.

Please look in the Windows Event Log. Post the relevant Event ID, Source and
Description.

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administration Tools -> Event Viewer

Cheers
