Having tried to make scripts which send out mail that tries not to get
blocked, I tend to agree with you, but I still think "futile" isn't the
right word. I keep thinking... "overzealous".

I keep a separate account on AOL (this account) just to test outgoing email
from my regular ISP. It only costs $4.95 a month and well worth it when I'm
troubleshooting email problems like you are having.

Once upon a time, far far away, the king summoned "Jenny"

Oh the classic catch 22 that blights so many computer systems.

Have you tried the Royal Mail ? It's old fashioned, but generally
quite reliable.

If your encyclopaedia doesn't list "widget glass", you're reading the wrong encyclopaedia.
The Probert Encyclopaedia. Its not the same.

I guess you haven't used it recently. It's currently old fashioned,
ridiculously unreliable and staffed by underpaid staff on short term
contracts who tend to remove anything that looks like it might be valuable
from the system.

OTOH it generally can get a plain old letter through within a week or two,
though not necessarily to the right address.
