Post subject: downloadable products shopping cart?
Archived from groups: alt>ecommerce (more info?)

I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for shopping carts
specifically for downloadable products?

I've seen OSCommerce, and although I do like it, it's not exactly
convenient to enter a large quantity of products. I have about 150 and
through OSCommerce it'll take me a large amount of time to enter all of
them.

I've seen AShop and it seems okay, but there are just a few things about
it I personally don't like (just display issues, nothing too important).

I need something that can run on a Linux box and be web-administered (I
don't want something like Actinic which is administered through a Windows
program.)

I'd prefer if it was written in PHP as I know PHP pretty well and can
modify it to my needs. It also has to have support for being able to hide
the product being downloaded nad only allow the purchaser to download it
(x) amount of times, within (x) days, etc.

Does anyone know of any products (open-source or commercial) that are out
there that can do what I need. Also, does anyone know how much cart
support PaySystems offers for their clients, as I may just go through them
for cc processing, and use them as well for the management.

Thanks,

Howdy,

BIZyCart (www.bizycart.com) will do everything you have in mind except
there's no code available to be tinkered with. You can run your site on a
Linux box and use BIZyCart's remote mode. All of your data bases would be
available for download from the BIZyCart server or you can use the web
management interface.

BIZyCart uses an Excel compatible data base so you can enter your products
spread sheet style and upload to the server. If they are already in a data
base, you can rearrange the columns or have me do it.

If you review <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://musicnotes.net" target="_blank">http://musicnotes.net</a> you'll find they have annual memberships
as well as selling individual songs for download. How many times an item
can be downloaded and the expiration date is configurable.

Your best bet is a credit card processor that does not add real-time gateway
fees on top of their monthly statement fees. Most of the folks using
BIZyCart use it's secure E-Mail mode rather than pay the extra $20 to $30 a
month for a real-time gateway.

Thanks, Chris <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.bizynet.com" target="_blank">http://www.bizynet.com</a>
