Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hello all,

I just bought a computer and IIS does not come with it,
nor that it is on the Windows XP CD. From my
understanding IIS is free, I can download it from
somewhere on the MS page. I did it with PWS.

Thanks

If it's WinXP Home, it doesn't support IIS or a MS web server.
If it's WinXP Pro, it's on the cd.

You cannot download IIS. It is part of the OS. If you have Windows XP Home,
then you have to upgrade to Pro to get IIS. If you have Windows XP Pro, then
it is on your CD. Go into Add/Remove Windows Applications and you will find
it.

IIS is part of the operating system. If your IIS is not installed you can do it later at any time. Go to Add/Remove Windows Applications and choose the components you need.

Remember XP Home is not designed to run a webserver.

IIS is always for free.

In the past the IIS was available on the Option Pack CD or as a download version.
